Box 26030, Beaumont, TX 77720 On February 23, 2017, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Joel Prado, Jr. (‘Prado’) was convicted of violating Section 38 of the Arms Export Control Act (22 U.S.C. 2778 (2012)) (‘AECA’). Prado was convicted of violating Section 38 of the AECA by conspiring to knowingly and willfully export and cause to be exported from the United States to Mexico .223 caliber rifles, items designated as defense articles on the United States Munitions List, without the required U.S. Department of State licenses. Prado was sentenced to 96 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and an assessment of $200.”
